Holiday screensavers – Things to keep in mind
With all of the free holiday screensavers that are available via online banners and numerous websites, you might be feeling a little overwhelmed. Not only are there a number of holiday screensavers to choose from, but also many holiday screen savers sites from which to make your choice. Knowing that the internet can sometimes be a scary place, those free holiday screen savers can also be the beginning of a number of problems for you and your computer. If you’re looking for a holiday screensaver, you’ll want to keep a few things in mind. First, many free animated holiday screensavers can take up a lot of memory on your computer, slowing down other programs you might want to use. When looking through the free holiday screensaver choices, be sure to select an image that doesn’t require a lot of your computer’s memory (less than one MB is best), especially when your computer is low on RAM. However, you will want to realize that the lower MB the holiday screen saver, the less detailed the images that you will see. In order to download a free holiday screensaver, you might also need to download additional software, but that can cause problems with other programs as well as for the virtual memory your computer can use.
Those cautions aside, holiday screensavers come in a variety of choices and options. You might also like a free funny holiday screensaver that sings a silly song or shows a funny scene. A holiday lights screensaver might light up to music or simply blink whenever your computer is not actively being used. When you’ve found the best holiday screensaver, you will want to set your computer so that it’s seen whenever you’re away from your desktop. Simply go to the control panel of your computer to set the screensaver to run whenever you’re away from your computer for thirty minutes or so, for example. You might also want to lock your computer with the screensaver, enabling a password to get back to your main screen. This will allow everyone to see your screensaver when you’re away, as well as allow you to celebrate the season whenever you’re doing other projects that don’t require your computer.
